Dr. Paul is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience in psychological diagnosis and cognitive assessment in both clinical and research settings. Since 2004 she has directed all psychological assessments in Dr. Adolphs’ laboratory.
This includes confirming prior diagnoses of autism, as well as screening both clinical and control subjects for a wide range of psychiatric confounds. Dr. Paul has worked most intensively with patients with agenesis of the corpus callosum, but has also been closely involved in all studies on autism and has guided the implementation of psychological measures to characterize participants in all studies conducted within Dr. Adolphs’ laboratory. She is also the Director of the Psychological Assessment Laboratory, a service for all Caltech investigators who do brain imaging, in order to provide a uniform structure for recruitment, screening, evaluation, and cross-study tracking of participants. Through this work, Dr. Paul is able to pursue her research interests in individual and group differences across neurotypical populations and autism spectrum disorder, agenesis of the corpus callosum, and brain lesion patient populations. Dr. Paul is the Principal Investigator for the Conte Center Core 3, Psychological Assessment.
